The resort at a glance
Red Deer Resort & Casino is owned and operated by O'Chiese First Nation, which acquired the property in October 2020. The hotel building opened over 50 years ago as the Capri, later became the Sheraton, then the Cambridge Hotel. The casino had its grand opening on September 8, 2023, and opened to the public at midnight after a VIP event. A new event centre tower went up that year on the north side, where two bars used to stand. Hours differ by zone, so the table below gives slots, VLTs, tables and poker a line each.

Age and ID at the door
Entry to the casino floor requires guests to be at least 18, matching Alberta's legal gambling age of 18. Casino staff have to verify valid government-issued photo ID for every guest who seems younger than 25. No list of accepted ID is published by the resort, so carrying a valid government-issued photo card is sensible. Minors are not admitted to the Casino Restaurant at the middle of the floor.

The other casino in Red Deer
ACE Casino Red Deer, formerly Cash Casino Red Deer, is the city's other casino. It is run by ACE Casinos and stands at 6350 67 Street, 4.4 km in a straight line from Red Deer Resort & Casino. It has 349 slot machines, 10 table games and electronic table games, along with the Embers restaurant and the Parlay Sports Lounge. Anyone setting a route between the two should enter the full street address of each.
Online play in Alberta
On July 13, 2026, Alberta's regulated online gaming market opened. AGLC regulates it, while the Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC) handles its management. AGLC also operates Play Alberta, the province's own site, at PlayAlberta.ca. Readers can look up any operator in AiGC's directory at abigaming.ca/players/registered-igaming-sites; an operator not found there is not regulated. Gambling is legal in Alberta from age 18.
On the home page, paid links carry the label Ad and point to a private online casino partner. That partner pays the guide its commission. PlayAlberta.ca, the province's AGLC site, is not the partner and pays the guide nothing. The partner's name is left off this page, since the arrangement could move to another operator. Readers may check the partner in the AiGC directory like any other operator.
